Las Lagunas de La Mata and Torrevieja Natural Park

The Las Lagunas de La Mata and Torrevieja Natural Park is a 3,700 hectare protected natural space, whose environmental values have been globally recognised since 1972 with the RAMSAR Convention.

Its main differentiating factor is its two salt lagoons, the Laguna de Torrevieja and the Laguna de La Mata. The first is pink, and is used for salt exploitation in Torrevieja. Meanwhile, Laguna de La Mata is green, and there we find the Visitor Centre of this natural park. These striking colours have different causes, among which we must highlight the marked salinity of their waters.
